Plays Good, Sounds Good!!

All stringed instruments will require a ‘Set up’ at some stage or other. If you have changed the string gauge on your guitar or bass, the neck will ‘Bow’ backwards or forwards, depending if you have changed to heavier or lighter strings

Temperature and Humidity changes will affect the Instruments neck, creating the string action to become either too high, or too low, and will need regular checks and periodic ‘set-Up’ especially if the instrument has not been played for some time.

New guitars should be ‘Set-Up’ by the retailer that you purchased your guitar from, but many shops these days don’t provide that service, especially if it is an internet ‘on-line’ store, where costs are kept to a minimum due to the ever increasing competition between retail outlets.

Remember; if it plays better, it will invariably Sound Better!.

We offer two levels of ‘Set-Up’ service;

BASIC SET-UP’

The Basic set up is primarily for ‘new’ instruments that just need final adjustments to get them up to scratch, Or if you have changed the string gauge. We check and adjust the truss rod, to get the neck perfect and the action as low  as possible (Customers 'Height' preference can be set latter) We will then adjust the bridge saddles to match the radius of the neck (something that is often overlooked) and check and adjust intonation.

 PRO SET-UP

This service is for Instruments that have been ‘worked’ hard and are in need of a little TLC. We will check and set-up as for the Basic service, but will also clean and oil the fingerboard, and polish all of the frets. check clean and adjust Trem systems, (always necessary if string gauge has been altered) We then Clean dirty crackling volume and tone pots and give the guitar a good overall clean before returning it to the customer

We will also check for ‘sharp’ fret ends and dress if nececery (supplementary cost )This is quite often a problem on new ‘Low cost’ instruments manufactured in the Far East., But can be  associated with some 'high end' instruments too.
